Privacy policy
Lanjoot is a learning app for children aged 4 to 12, with games for Chinese, Math and English. It's made by Lanjoot App Developer in Jakarta, Indonesia. This policy explains what information Lanjoot uses, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Lanjoot app on Android, iPhone and iPad, and on our website.
- Children can play without an account. Their progress then stays only on the device, and nothing is sent to us.
- A family account is optional and is created by a parent or guardian. It saves progress online so a child can play on several devices.
- Lanjoot has no ads, no in-app chat, and does not track children or sell anyone’s information.
- Any link that leaves the app sits behind a grown-ups check.
- You can delete your family account at any time, in the app or on our delete account page.
1. Information we collect
If you play without an account: the child’s player name, age, buddy, scores, coins, streaks and levels are saved in the app’s storage on that device only. We don’t receive them.
If a parent creates a family account (in the app or on our website), we collect:
- the parent’s name and email address, and optionally a phone number and city (website form only);
- a password, stored only as a scrambled one-way code (a “hash”), so we can never see it;
- each child’s first name or nickname and age, and the subjects you’re interested in;
- a record that the parent agreed to create the account, and how you heard about Lanjoot (optional).
Learning progress for each child in the account: player name, chosen buddy and outfit, stars, scores, coins, streaks, levels, the questions they got wrong (for “Practice my mistakes”) and when they last played.
Sign-in sessions: when you sign in, we store a short description of the device’s browser or phone type, so you stay signed in. Sessions end after 180 days without use.
Sign in with Google (optional): if you choose “Continue with Google”, Google tells us your name and email address, and that the email is verified. We use them only to create or sign in to your family account. We never receive your Google password, and we can’t see anything else in your Google account.
Messages you send us, for example on WhatsApp.
What we don’t collect: location, photos, contacts, voice recordings, advertising IDs or any tracking identifiers. Read-aloud uses the text-to-speech voice built into the device, so no sound is sent to us.
2. How we use information
- To run family accounts, sign you in, and sync progress between devices.
- To show the online leaderboard to signed-in families (see section 4).
- To send the weekly progress email to parents. You can turn it off in the app (Family account) or with the link in each email.
- To send one-time sign-in codes when you ask for them.
- To answer your questions and keep Lanjoot safe and working.
We don’t use children’s information for advertising, profiling or any purpose other than running Lanjoot.
3. Where information is stored and who can see it
Family account information is stored using Google services (Google Sheets and Google Apps Script) in the developer’s Google account, and weekly and sign-in emails are sent through Google. Information travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Google’s servers may be outside Indonesia. Only the Lanjoot developer can view the stored account information.
We don’t sell or rent personal information. We only share it with the service provider above (Google), or if the law requires it.
4. The online leaderboard
Signed-in families can see a leaderboard showing each child’s player name, buddy picture and points. It never shows ages, emails or other details. We suggest using a nickname. A parent can hide a child from the leaderboard in the app.
5. Children’s privacy
Lanjoot is designed for children. We collect as little as possible, children can use it fully without giving any personal information, and only a parent or guardian can create a family account. We designed Lanjoot to follow children’s privacy principles, including parental consent for children’s data under Indonesia’s Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022) and the principles of the US Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has given us information without a parent’s permission, contact us and we’ll delete it.
6. How long we keep information
We keep family account information until you delete the account or ask us to delete it. When an account is deleted, we remove the registration, every child’s online progress and all sign-in sessions. Deleted data may remain for a short time in Google’s automatic backups and spreadsheet version history before it disappears. We don’t use those copies.
7. Your choices and rights
- Delete your account: in the app, go to Family account → Delete our account, or use our delete account page, or message us.
- See or correct your information: message us and we’ll help.
- Stop the weekly email: use the switch in the app or the link in the email.
- Hide a child from the leaderboard, or play without an account at any time.
- Remove local progress: delete the player in the app, or uninstall the app.
8. Security
We use encrypted connections, store passwords only as one-way hashes, use short-lived sign-in codes and limit repeated sign-in attempts. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. We’ll tell families about important changes, for example by email or in the app.
